Chance the Rapper Drops Four New Songs + Buys Chicagoist

And we back, and we back!

Chance the Rapper surprised fans with four new tracks Wednesday night, and in one of them, announced he's purchased the Chicagoist, the local news site most recently owned by WNYC.

On the track, "I Might Need Security," Chance balls up his fist, Arthur-style (peep the art work?), at the haters and raps, "I bought the Chicagoist / just to run you racist bi***es out of business."

Chance released a more traditional statement, saying he's "extremely excited to be continuing the work of the Chicagoist,” which he called “an integral local platform for Chicago news, events and entertainment.”

According to the New York Times, Chance the Rapper said that his focus on relaunching the site would be to bring Chicagoans “an independent media outlet focused on amplifying diverse voices and content.”

He also rapped, "I'm a sign to my city like the Bat-Signal / Young chosen one, gold boy, De La Hoya / It ain't too many me's," and I honestly couldn't agree any more.
